Some indicated it had to be formatted as GPT, but others indicated it was already usable. Though it seems to be ok if you're just going to copy via Windows Explorer, which I did do as a test. I read many user reviews/feedback on my Seagate 3TB Backup Plus Desktop external, and there does appear to be an issue with Windows 7 & and anything over 2 TB, especially with backup programs. Pending any further advise or suggestions, ( which obviously I would prefer) I did some research regarding MBR and GPT, and am probably even more confused. Obviously there is plenty of space, and the drive is working because I’m able to copy files to it. Set up new backup tasks, tried running a couple of them, but received running out of disk space prompt. I was previously running out of disk space with my 1 TB external, therefore the larger external. I just installed a 3 TB external on my Win 7 Pro. I’m re-submitting this problem with slightly different wording because yesterday I received an administrator spam alert which blocked my post ( which I’ve never encountered before), so not knowing when or even if it’ll get posted, I’m re-posting. Hopefully bypassing the spam prompt, which I'm not sure what content is causing it.
